The United States District Court for the Eastern District of Wisconsin will be closed Thursday, December 25th and Friday, December 26th, as well as Thursday, January 1, 2015 and Friday, January 2, 2015.   This is consistent with the notice of closure issued by the Administrative Office, 7th Circuit Court of Appeals, and other district courts.

The Local Rules Committee conducted a series of meetings over the last year and has suggested a number of changes to the following Local Rules for the Eastern District of Wisconsin. A redlined version follows. The proposed changes have been tentatively approved by the Judges of the District and are now being posted for public comment. The Judicial Conference of the United States has authorized the appointment of a full-time United States magistrate judge for the Eastern District of Wisconsin at Milwaukee. A Merit Selection panel composed of attorneys and other members of the community will review all applicants and recommend to the judges of the court the five persons it considers best qualified for the position. The court will make a final appointment. Applications must be received no later than December 15, 2014. Please see the following notice, application and order:
