Opinions

Pursuant to the E-Government Act of 2002, the Eastern District of Wisconsin provides public access to written opinions issued by our court.  The Judicial Conference defines "written opinion" as any document issued by a judge or judges of the court, sitting in that capacity, that sets forth a reasoned explanation for a court's decision.  Access is limited to those opinions which were filed in an electronic format.  For opinions filed prior to district wide electronic filing, please see the Archived Records page of this website for information on access to  files, documents and opinions.

The PACER system has a written opinions report.  Access to both the report and the opinions is free.  In order to access court records via PACER you must have a PACER account.  For PACER access and online registration, please click here.

Attorneys registered for electronic filing may also access the written opinions report via the CM/ECF system. Access to the opinions in the report is free. However, accessing a docket sheet from the report will incur PACER fees of $.10 per page.
