In a letter dated February 3, 2016 to President Barack Obama, I announced my intention to move from active status to senior status effective February 5, 2016.
After serving for 41 years on both the State and Federal Courts in various capacities, it is time to reduce my workload and bring to the Eastern District of Wisconsin a new full-time active judge who will, in turn, bring additional assistance in dealing with the court’s docket.
It has been an honor and a privilege to serve the community, the state, and the nation these past 41 years, and it will be an honor and a privilege to continue to serve in a reduced way.
I sincerely thank the people of the legal community who have lent their support both personally and, more importantly, by delivering outstanding legal service to their clients, the community and before the court. I am proud to work with such superlative professionals in the joint effort to deliver efficient and just dispositions to all litigants.
