In a letter dated January 22, 2019, to President Donald J. Trump, I
announced my intention to move from active to senior status effective
December 31, 2019.
By that time, I will have completed my 7-year term as Chief Judge of the
District and more than 24 years as a state and federal judge. It is my hope to
continue to serve the district as a senior judge, while at the same time make
possible the appointment of a new full-time active judge in the Eastern
District of Wisconsin who will, in turn, bring additional assistance to the
court in resolving cases.
It has been an honor and a privilege to serve as a United States District
Judge for the past 16 ½ years, and I look forward to continuing to do so in the
future as a senior judge of the district.
