Please be advised that, effective October 5, 2026, the Eastern District of Wisconsin’s procedure for issuing summonses in civil cases will change.

Currently, issued summonses are emailed directly to the attorney of record and their secondary email addresses. Beginning October 5, 2026, issued summonses will instead be attached to the summons issued docket entry.

Attorneys and their staff should monitor their notices of electronic filing (NEFs) following the filing of a new complaint or request for issuance of summons. The NEF will appear as follows:
