US Attorney Notice
On November 17, 2025, the Attorney General invoked 28 U.S.C. §546(a) and appointed Brad D. Schimel as Interim United States Attorney for the Eastern District of Wisconsin. By statute, this appointment expires on March 17, 2026. See 28 U.S.C.§546(c)(2). Section 546(d) provides that upon expiration of the interim appointee’s term, this Court “may appoint a United States attorney to serve until the vacancy is filled.” A majority of judges on the Court declines to exercise this permissive authority.
Public Notice: Reappointment of Incumbent Magistrate Judge Nancy Joseph
The current term of office of United States Magistrate Judge Nancy Joseph in the Eastern District of Wisconsin is due to expire on November 14, 2026. The United States District Court is required by law to establish a panel of citizens to consider the reappointment of the magistrate judge to a new eight-year term.
