The Federal Judiciary has developed a Next Generation (NextGen) Case Management/Electronic Case Files (CM/ECF) system that will allow attorneys to use the same account for both PACER and electronic filing access.
The District Court for the Eastern District of Wisconsin plans to upgrade to NextGen on April 8th, 2019. For more information on NextGen, click here.

MILWAUKEE, Wis.- Effective January 1, 2019, the Honorable G. Michael Halfenger has been appointed Chief Bankruptcy Judge for the Eastern District of Wisconsin. He replaces the Honorable Susan V. Kelley, who has retired. Judge Halfenger has served on the bankruptcy court since January 11, 2013. Previously, he was a partner at the law firm of Foley & Lardner.
In a letter dated January 22, 2019, to President Donald J. Trump, I
announced my intention to move from active to senior status effective
December 31, 2019.
By that time, I will have completed my 7-year term as Chief Judge of the
District and more than 24 years as a state and federal judge. It is my hope to
continue to serve the district as a senior judge, while at the same time make
possible the appointment of a new full-time active judge in the Eastern
District of Wisconsin who will, in turn, bring additional assistance to the
